Success!
On August 6 Sara returned home from her time in Texas this summer. She had a great time and brought back a great tan to show for it. And one of the first things she wanted to do was resume practicing riding her bike. And so, Tuesday of this week we loaded her small bike in the trunk and headed for the HS parking lot - a really big blacktop area where she could get some real good practice. AND SUCCESS! With just a short bit of practice, virtually taking off where she left off previously when she left for Texas, she took off by herself and started riding! And as most all of you know, once you get it, you've got it. You never forget how. And so daily since Tuesday we have spent time practicing. And she is getting real good. She takes off now and rides big circles around the parking lot, heads for Dad and the car and brakes to a skid, dropping her foot to the ground and smiling. "One small step for daughter, one giant hurdle in life.
She needs some further practice, especially on the getting started part, but she has it down. And now we can plan some family bike rides together. There are lots of camp grounds in Oregon where you can bring your bikes and ride, and so a trip like that is now in the planning stages for next week. Enjoy the pics.
