Late Summer Harvest
People who have never lived in Oregon often are under the mistaken impression that you can't grow tomatoes in Oregon, that it is just too wet and cold. Wrong! Actually Oregon is the perfect climate for growing so many delicious and wonderful fruits and vegetables. Our grown-from-seed tomatoes this year have finally rewarded our patience. Is there anything as delicious as a big, vine ripened tomato? Even the smell is wonderful! Thank you, heavenly Father, for being such a wonderful Creator!

Sara has begun the second grade! She was nervous on Tuesday the first day, but did just fine. She had such a wonderful teacher last year (who has now retired), we were a bit suprised when she came home Tuesday afternoon and promptly told us that she thought her teacher this year would be better than her teacher last year. Hurray for good teachers! (And go get 'em, Dave Norvell, and Sarah Vendsel, and Mike Vendsel! We are very proud of all of you!)

That's a beautiful tomato, Dad! Cute picture of Sara- she is really photogenic. I can't believe she is in second grade! Glad to hear she has a good teacher.
Miss you,
Rachel & Mike
