Zoo Day!
Saturday we went to the Zoo! It was a family day sponsored by Pam's company, Webtrends. Nestled in the west hills the Portland Zoo has been a feature of the Northwest for a long time. It is great zoo and you come away feeling everything has been done really nice. There are lots and lots of different animals, wonderful landscaping and the exhibits are done in such a way to allow very close approach to the animals. The zoo is so large that it is difficult to see it all in one day. We will have to go back again. But we had a great time! Just a few of the highlights -
We came nearly nose to nose with two very large sea lions. I was impressed with how big they are yet how graceful. We saw American cougars, hippopotamus, rhinos, monkeys, bears, tigers, and more.
We sat for a bird show and watched turkey vultures, and bald eagles, fly over our heads, and were introduced to many other native species as well.

And at the end of the day we took a fun train ride through the park.
The Portland Zoo is a great day's outing. I came away impressed anew with God's marvelous creation! What incredible diversity! Certainly our Creator is wonderful beyond our greatest thoughts and worthy of our worship!
Thus says the Lord, "Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being," declares the Lord. "But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.
Isaiah 66:1-2

Looks like a really fun day. :)
Mike and I got Philly Zoo memberships this summer and have been twice so far. I don't think one is ever too old to enjoy the zoo!
awe...so neat dad! I remember going to the Anchorage zoo when we were kids. I was so impressed cause they had zebras and horses. I still have some pictures from our trips!
And, the Portland zoo was also a favorite spot for 4 year-old Mike and 2 year-old Sarah. One year we went right after Michael got out of the hospital from having tubes put in his ears...smile...
