Instant Family

In our last post we were delighted to share that we had become a foster family to Nathan. We are equally delighted once again to share that in addition to Nathan three more have been added to our family! Christian, Jonathon and Samantha have come to live with our family. It happened something like this.

Approximately three weeks after Nathan came to live with us we received a call from the placement officer who had brought Nathan to our family informing us that his three siblings were also coming into care and needed a home. We were asked if we would consider taking all three and in that way keeping the children together and under one roof. Wow, now wait a minute...when we had first considered foster care we thought of one or two but never four! Are we capable of four, and especially in our small house? And the youngest we were informed was just two years old, almost three. Wow, four and two under five years of age! We were asked to give it thought and consideration and then to call back with our decision. And so we did. All three of us, Walt, Pam and Sara, discussed it, mulled it over, considered the pros and cons, and prayed together seeking to understand what our response should be. And after much thought, we all agreed that we would like to try and make something special for this family that was experiencing these difficult circumstances...and so we have become a family of seven!

Christian, age 9, is the oldest. Next is Jonathon at age 8, then Nathan at 4 and finally Samantha age 2. Both Christian and Jonathon have started in our local school. Both love to ride their bikes, and play legos. I have shared about Nathan previously so will not say anything more about him right now, except that he is very happy to have his brothers and sister with him. Samantha is a cute little button, so sweet and happy. She chases after her siblings and loves to listen to music and dance a little jig. She loves her bigger sister, Sara, and Sara has been so caring and loving to her.

As you can imagine there have been many adjustments for us all, the children and for the parents as we learn to live and be a family together. Pray for us, that God will ease our way, that we can make a home and family that will bring him honor, thanksgiving and praise.

One other bit of news to share with our readers, we have found a piece of property that would be ideal for a larger family. It is acreage just aching for a garden and kids to run all over it, a newer house with more bedrooms, that backs up to a bay on the Columbia River with an incredible view of Mts St Helens, and Adam. We have made an offer but as of this publishing we are still waiting to hear. Pray for us, that again our Lord would show His great kindness and give us this desire of our heart.

Until next time, Walt, for the seven of us!
